In 1930, IWC received a commission from some Portuguese traders, who wanted timepieces as accurate as the models used on Navy ships.
At the time, the precision they required could only be achieved in the form of a pocket watch, and a rather large one at that. In 1993, a wrist model was created that could guarantee the same performance. It was a small masterpiece of technology and elegance.
